President’s February Greetings

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;”

Romans 12:10 (KJV)

Greetings Fellow Doorkeepers!

Due to the inclement weather on January 14th, we were unable to have our first Business Meeting of the year. Thanks to First Rock Baptist Church for the preparation in hosting the January Business Meeting!

On Sunday, January 20th, we had a spirit-filled “Re-Dedication Service” at Greater People’s Union Baptist Church. The 2019 Re-Dedication Service theme was “It’s A Blessing To Serve The Lord” – with a scriptural reference of Deuteronomy 11:13. Reverend James L. Dawkins, Sr. was the Preacher for the occasion. Reverend Dawkins’ sermon topic was “It’s A Mighty Good Thing To Be Chosen By God” – with a scriptural reference of Deuteronomy 11:13-14. The ”Re-Dedication Service” is our first official program for the year. We want to start the year off by Re-Dedicating our service unto God and the ICUA. Thanks to the Catherine E. Mills School of Ushering for serving at the program and the Mabel C. Cooper Chorus for rendering the musical selections! Many thanks to the Events Department, Re-Dedication Working Unit for planning a spirit-filled program.

Since Junior President Vashone Muse, Young Adult President Karisse Carmack, and yours truly – Senior President Pansy Bradley-Cooper – were unable to present our Presidential Addresses at the Business Meeting on January 14th, we presented our Presidential Addresses at the Vision Planning Meeting on January 26th. We will continue with the theme “The Power of Love and Unity,” – with the scriptural reference of 1 Corinthians, Chapter 1 – Verse 10. I shared with the membership the State (financial status) of the ICUA. We ended 2018 in the best financial status that we have had in quite some time. This is partly due to the implementation of QuickBooks, and the oversight and partnership of our finances by the Board of Trustees and the Budget and Finance Department making certain that the Departments, Committees, and special activities stayed within the prescribed budget. The Board of Trustees’ Technical Print Team is to be commended for printing 33 projects last year, which brought in over $10,000 to offset the monthly lease on the Copier. Our membership without an E-Mail address will now receive Calling Post messages directly from me informing them of important Local, Regional, and National communications. If you would like to be added to this special Group, please contact me at 301-335-1779 to have your name and telephone number added to the list.
