On March 29-30, 2019, we attended the 62nd Eastern Region Conference in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Our Delegation consisted of 72 Seniors – 3 Young Adults – and 10 Juniors – for a total of 85 Delegates. Thanks to Director Charles J. Brown for his vision to implement a different format for the Conference this year! The various Workshops were effective, and hopefully, the format will be incorporated into future Eastern Region Conferences.

The Eastern Region Delegation voted on who will represent the Past – the Present – and the Future from the Eastern Region at the National James E. Anderson Unity Luncheon on Tuesday, July 30th. Sister Elrita F. James will represent the Eastern Region for the Past, and Little Miss Setota Johnson will represent the Eastern Region as our Future Usher.

Next year, the State of Delaware will host the 63rd Eastern Region Conference on March 13 – 14, 2020, at the Doubletree Hotel Downtown – Wilmington, Delaware. The room rate is $109.00 plus 10% tax, subject to change.

In 2021, the District of Columbia will host the 64th Eastern Region Conference on March 19 – 20, 2021. I’m happy to report that our own Director Charles J. Brown will be the sole honoree for the Johnnie F. Knighton Prayer Breakfast for his 12 years of service as Director of the Eastern Region, and NUCUAA’s Vice President before being elected as NUCUAA’s 24th National President. Brother Brown will join the following National Presidents from the District of Columbia:

Raymond A. Smith, and
Raymond Thomas

Thanks to the Delegates for traveling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 31st after the 62nd Eastern Region Conference for the ICUA of Pennsylvania’s 99th Memorial Service at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church!

Congratulations, again, to the Catherine E. Mills School of Ushering 2019 Graduating Class on your achievement in the Art of Church Ushering! To Dean Janice E. Hyshaw, Assistant Dean Melinda H. Wilkins, and the Faculty, thank you for your dedication and commitment to teaching the Silent Method of Church Ushering!

We are encouraging all Delegates to use NUCUAA’s on-line system to pre-register and purchase tickets for the various events. Board Chairman Ronald Jones will be at the Headquarters on Saturday – May 11th and Saturday – June 8th between the hours of 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM to assist our members with your NUCUAA pre-registration and event tickets. Please bring cash for your purchases. After making your initial pre-registration, add-ons will not be permitted.

The theme is: “200 Ushers in White.” The sacrificial asking is $50.00 for Seniors and Young Adults – Juniors $10.00. You can start paying your $50.00 and $10.00 now. See the 107th Financial Team of Sister Gwendolyn T. Newton or Sister Nelcina B. Wiggins to pay your sacrificial asking. The deadline to complete your sacrificial asking is August 31, 2019. All names will appear in the 107th Anniversary Program.

The 63rd New York Memorial Weekend / Eastern Region Mid-Year Meeting will be held on November 9–10, 2019. Hotel: LaGuardia Plaza Hotel, 104-04 Ditmars Boulevard, East Elmhurst, New York – Room Rate $172.00 across the board. {One night room deposit required with reservation.} Reservation deadline – October 1, 2019.
